Spring is upon us and, like Six Flags parks (whose respective opening dates you can find in this post), Dorney Park, Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, and all the parks in the Cedar Fair chain are gearing up for the 2016 season. Here is a full list of all Cedar Fair park opening dates along with links to 2016 operating schedules.
California’s Great America (Santa Clara, CA)
Opening day is Friday, March 25, with limited (mostly weekend) operation until the last of May. Starting May 30, the park is open for daily operation through mid-August. Here’s a link to the park’s full operating calendar.
Canada’s Wonderland (Ontario)
Because things are a bit colder up north, the park won’t open until Sunday, May 1. After about two weeks of weekend-only operation, it’s right into full-time, daily mode starting the week of May 16 and lasting throughout August. Here’s the full operating calendar.
Carowinds (Charlotte, NC)
Carowinds first opens on Friday, March 25 and is open the entire following week. From then through May, it’s mostly weekend hours only. The park will be open for daily operation starting the week of May 30. Here’s a link to Carowinds’ full operating schedule for 2016.
Cedar Point (Sandusky, OH)
America’s Roller Coast opens for the season on Saturday, May 7 and very quickly goes into daily operation starting the week of May 16. Here is Cedar Point’s 2016 operating calendar.
Dorney Park (Allentown, PA)
Dorney opens for 2016 on Saturday, April 30, and runs in weekend-only operation until the end of May. Then, it’s open daily every day from May 30 until September 5. Here is a link to Dorney’s full 2016 operating calendar.
Kings Dominion (Doswell, VA)
The park opens on Friday, March 25 and will operate daily for the entire following week. After that, Kings Dominion will be open on weekends only through May. It begins daily operation for the summer on May 30. For full park hours, here’s the 2016 operating calendar.
Kings Island (Kings Mill, OH)
Kings Island opens its gates on Saturday, April 16. For the first four weeks it’ll only be open on weekends, but quickly moves into full-time mode with daily operation beginning the week of May 16 and lasting through mid-August. Here’s Kings Island’s full 2016 operating schedule.
Michigan’s Adventure (Muskegon, MI)
Michigan’s Adventure is pretty far north, so it won’t be opening until Friday, May 27. But, when those gates do open, it’s full-time mode with daily operation throughout the summer months. Here’s a link to the park’s full operating calendar.
Valleyfair (Shakopee, MN)
Valleyfair will open and go immediately into daily operation on Friday, May 13. The park is open daily through Labor Day weekend, after which it’s open only on weekends through the end of October. Here’s a link to Valleyfair’s 2016 park operating schedule.
Worlds of Fun (Kansas City, MO)
Worlds of Fun opens the gates on Saturday, April 16 and is open only on weekends until May. It goes into daily operation beginning Thursday, May 5 (excluding Sunday, May 15, when the park is closed). Here’s a link to the park’s 2016 operating calendar.
Note that most parks’ hours vary by day. And, on certain rare occasions, parks may be completely closed to the public for private events. Make sure you consult your park’s operating schedule before you go to avoid disappointment!
